Childhood cancer survivors have a unique understanding of what it means to face treatment, uncertainty, and change. Through the Beyond the Cure Ambassador Scholarship Program, the NCCS celebrates survivors by helping them pursue their educational goals while encouraging them to support other children and families affected by cancer.
As part of the scholarship program, recipients complete volunteer service hours that give back to the childhood cancer community. One of these opportunities is Cards 4 Kids, a heartfelt initiative that spreads encouragement, hope, and kindness when it’s needed most.
For this project, scholarship recipients invite friends and family to create handmade cards filled with colorful artwork, uplifting messages, and words of encouragement for children receiving cancer treatment. Once completed, the cards are returned to the NCCS and are given to families receiving our financial assistance, bringing smiles and reminders that they are not alone on their journey.
Cards 4 Kids is a beautiful example of survivors supporting those who are just beginning their own cancer journey, turning lived experience into compassion, connection, and hope.
