Late Effects After Treatment Tool (LEATT)

As research continues to advance, so does our understanding of childhood cancer survivorship and the long-term effects of treatment. Staying informed about potential late effects, accessing the most up-to-date information, and receiving appropriate follow-up care as early as possible are all important steps in supporting long-term health and well-being.

The National Children’s Cancer Society has recently enhanced its Late Effect’s After Treatment Tool (LEATT) to better support survivors and their families. In less than 10 minutes, this secure, online resource provides personalized information based on an individual’s diagnosis and treatment history, including:

  • A customized list of potential late effects based on their specific therapies
  • Tailored recommendations for follow-up care
  • Prevention tips to support long-term health and well-being

Unlike many other survivorship care tools, LEATT is designed to grow with your child and support you throughout their entire care journey, not just after treatment ends. You can save the plan, update it over time, and easily share it with healthcare providers, helping ensure everyone involved in your child’s care has the most accurate and up-to-date information.

Meet Mikari Mikari, a recipient of the Beyond the Cure Ambassador Scholarship, understands the importance of maintaining healthy habits and staying consistent with follow-up care. She used LEATT to create her own personalized plan and shared, “The tool was helpful! It gave me a lot of great prevention tips that I wasn’t aware of before!”
