The View From Up Here: Young Adult Guide to Surviving Childhood Cancer

Ringing the bell to mark the end of childhood cancer treatment is a powerful and often bittersweet moment. While it represents the completion of treatment, it does not mean the journey is over. Survivors and their families often continue to navigate life after cancer, adjusting to a new normal while also facing the challenges that can come with survivorship.

As young survivors move forward, they may encounter a range of complexities, from managing late effects and chronic health conditions to navigating emotional and psychosocial challenges, financial pressures, educational transitions, and understanding their medical history. These experiences can feel overwhelming, especially when stepping into adolescence and adulthood.

To help support young people through this transition, The National Children’s Cancer Society created The View From Up Here: Young Adult Guide to Surviving Childhood Cancer. Designed for survivors ages 15 and older, this resource offers guidance across many aspects of survivorship, including long-term health, emotional well-being, spiritual growth, health insurance, education, and relationships.

The guide also features inspiring stories and practical advice from fellow survivors who have walked this path. By sharing their experiences, they offer encouragement, connection, and valuable insight, helping others feel more prepared, informed, and supported as they move forward.
