Meet Xander – Leukemia Warrior
“During this rough time, the NCCS has provided not only mental, but physical and financial support. We are so thankful to have the assistance right at our fingertips from their team. We are so thankful for everyone's help and aid in support for our son," shared his parents, Taylor and Jayce.
Just three months after celebrating his 2nd birthday, Xander’s world changed in an instant. On June 25, 2025, Xander was diagnosed with leukemia, and his parents, Taylor and Jayce, were suddenly thrust into a journey no family ever expects.
Within days of his diagnosis, Xander was admitted to the hospital, where he would spend nearly a month undergoing intensive treatment. Those early weeks were filled with uncertainty, long nights, and overwhelming emotions. After finally returning home, they hoped for a brief moment of normalcy, but childhood cancer rarely follows a predictable path. Fevers, infections, and complications brought Xander back to the hospital time and time again.
Despite frequent hospital stays, weekly chemotherapy, and the physical toll of treatment, Xander continues to adapt with remarkable resilience. His parents describe how he’s learned to take each day as it comes. Whether he’s making new friends during his stays or dancing in his room after a round of treatment, Xander’s spirit refuses to be broken.
There have been incredibly difficult moments. At one point, treatment impacted his ability to walk, a heartbreaking challenge for an active toddler. But step by step, Xander fought his way back. Today, he’s not only walking again; he’s standing, moving, and even dancing!
Through every hospital stay, his parents have worked tirelessly to stay by his side. While his mom remained with Xander during long inpatient admissions, his dad made regular trips to the hospital, bringing meals, clothes, and pieces of home, small but meaningful comforts that allowed them to focus on Xander’s care.
For Taylor and Jayce, the journey has been overwhelming. Between extended hospital admissions, frequent outpatient visits, and the constant back-and-forth travel for care, daily life has been turned upside down. Simple things like getting to appointments or staying close during long hospitalizations became major obstacles. That’s where The National Children’s Cancer Society stepped in.
HOW WE HELPED

As Xander continues treatment, including both inpatient and outpatient care, his family remains grounded in gratitude and hope. They shared, “During this rough time, the NCCS has provided not only mental, but physical and financial support. We are so thankful to have the assistance right at our fingertips from their team. We are so thankful for everyone’s help and aid in support for our son.”
Xander’s journey is far from over, but his story is already one of incredible courage, resilience, and hope. With every step forward, every dance, and every smile, he reminds us all what it means to be a resilient young warrior.
